The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) administers iCanConnect.
DRS expands opportunities for employment, independent life and economic self-sufficiency by helping Oklahomans with disabilities bridge barriers to success in the workplace, school and at home.”
Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services Mission
DRS vows to expand job opportunities as well as create financial and independent living and iCanConnect is one of the ways it is doing that. The program is providing communications devices such as laptops, tablets and braille devices to low-income people with combined hearing and vision loss. Those who qualify can receive the equipment and one-on-one training free of charge.
Julie Bailey works as a Program Manager for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services. Julie, who is blind from a hereditary type of glaucoma, is managing iCanConnect. She will assist with assessing and training clients who have significant hearing and vision loss ensuring they receive the right equipment and training to remain connected to family, friends and community.
Julie holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation teaching of the blind, is a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT), and is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
